Surveillance cameras captured video of two masked men walking into Joy's Donut Shop on Simpson Stuart Road at about 7:30 a.m.

The video shows one of the men stealing a cash register from the counter while the other man attempted to steal a second one from the other end of the counter.

The business owner intervened and chased the men outside. One of the men assaulted the business owner, police say.

An off-duty Dallas police officer, who happened to be in the parking lot of the store, ordered the men to stop. One of the men surrendered and was arrested. He has been identified as 18-year-old Kristopher Jones.

The other man ran away with the cash register and is still at large. Police describe him as a black male, five-feet, nine-inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt, dark pants and a wool hood pulled over his face and white socks over his hands.

The cash register was later recovered in a nearby field.

No weapons were used in the robbery, according to police.
