Dallas County Deputy to Plead Guilty in Drug Case

Federal prosecutors say a veteran Dallas County sheriff's deputy has agreed to plead guilty for his role in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said Friday that 36-year-old Standric Choice is expected to formally enter his plea next week.

Court documents indicate he will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and possessing with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine.

A criminal complaint alleges Choice and two co-defendants conspired to steal cocaine from a dealer. Choice would seize the cocaine by faking the arrest of an informant.

Choice is a 15-year veteran of the Dallas County Sheriff's Department.
