Dallas Community Advocate Bill Callejo Passes Away

For the second time in 2014, the city of Dallas is experiencing the loss of a member of the Callejo family.

The former chairman of the Dallas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce confirmed that Bill Callejo passed away on Saturday.

Callejo was an architect, real estate investor, attorney and engineer. Perhaps he was better known as the longtime husband of longtime civil rights activist and attorney Adelfa B. Callejo. She passed away on January 26, 2014.

Marcos G. Ronquillo issued a short statement about Callejo's life.  It reads in part:

"We take comfort in knowing Bill is in a better place and now joins his life long partner Adelfa and we know they are looking down upon all of us now...

"...Bill was proud of his heritage as a 'puertoriqueno' [Puerto Rican] and served with distinction in advancing the participation of the Latino community in our political process."
