WBAP Reporter, 2 Others Injured in Head-On Collision

Officials said three people were taken to nearby hospitals after a head-on collision in Boyd Friday night.

The driver of a Toyota sedan with WBAP markings was traveling north on Farm-to-Market Road 51 near Farm-to-Market Road 2048 when a Ford F-250 truck heading the opposite direction crossed the center line and struck the car at about 7:46 p.m., according to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Lonny Haschel.

WBAP reporter and anchor Alan Scaia, the driver of the car, and a passenger in the truck were taken by helicopter to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, officials said. Authorities said the driver of the truck was taken to Wise Regional Hospital.

Monday morning hospital officials upgraded Scaia's condition to serious. The conditions of the truck's driver and passenger are not yet known.

DPS officials said they are still investigating the wreck.
