Security has been enhanced at police substations across the city of Dallas after shots were fired near a police station Saturday night.
Dallas police said at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday a person fired several rounds from a vehicle going southbound on Hall Street near the Central Patrol Division in Deep Ellum. The substation is adjacent to other City of Dallas offices, including Sanitation and Code Compliance Services and Equipment and Building Services.
Officers said it is unknown if the station was targeted or if shots were fired in another direction. No one was reported injured. A source with the department said it did not appear officers were targeted.
Shortly after the call in Deep Ellum, police said a person in a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used on Hall Street shot at a security guard at an Atmos Energy facility on Logan Street. The guard was not injured, but his vehicle was damaged in the shooting.
In an email to NBC 5, an Atmos spokesperson said, "At this time we have not received the final report from our security firm and do not have any new information to share. The safety of our workers, the public, and our system remains our highest priority and we are working with the Dallas Police Department."
Police found several similar shell casings at that scene.
Dallas police divisions were notified and told to enhance their security.
