Authorities are looking for a man they say stabbed a woman to death while her children were in the same apartment, police said.

Dallas police were sent to the the Crystal Creek Apartments in 900 block of West Wheatland just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday after getting a 911 call saying someone had been stabbed. When police got there, they found a woman with several stab wounds.

Shawna Lane, 22, was transported to a local hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.

Now officers are looking for Marcus Deon Johnson, 35, in connection with the woman's death.

“The victim's children were home when this occurred and may have seen this violent act,” Lt. Andy Harvey said in an email Sunday night. “They have been placed in CPS care.”

Those kids, Harvey said, are a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and an infant.

Officers didn’t release any specifics as to a motive, only that it stemmed from a domestic disturbance.

This isn’t Johnson’s first run-in with the law.  An NBCDFW review of public records shows he has been charged with assaulting a family member, theft, burglary of a home and evading arrest.

Police are asking anyone with any information on Johnson or his whereabouts to call 214-671-3661.  The Crime Stoppers program will also pay up to $5,000 for information which leads to the arrest and indictment for any felony crime.  That number is 214-373-8477.
