DISD Delays Decisions on Which Teachers to Lay Off

Only 460 contract employees will lose their jobs instead of 550

The Dallas Independent School District is delaying decisions on which teachers to lay off.

The district said it is pushing back the layoff notifications from Wednesday to Thursday.

Because of voluntary retirements, only 460 contract employees will lose their jobs instead of 550.

The DISD is making the drastic cuts to head off a projected $84 million budget shortfall.
