D/FW Airport Wants Summer Travel to Be Enjoyable

As summer approaches, more and more people will be flying.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport officials said they expect 18 million passengers through Labor Day. They want everyone to enjoy their travels, so they implemented a few ideas to help.

The main piece of advice officials give travelers is to allow plenty of time to get to the airport. The lines might be longer during the summer, so coming earlier is key.

The airport will also have discounted parking. If you park in either the North or South Express parking lots for seven days you will get a $55 — less than $8 a day.

Passengers can now use social media to interact while at the airport. The program is called Sunny Service Days and lets customers use the hashtag #DFWsummer to share their pictures and experiences.

"If they have an issue. If they have a compliment. If they are here in the airport, and they want to have a little fun, that hashtag will allow them to share their fun with other travelers here at the airport," airport spokesman David Magana said.

Magana said this will be the busiest summer for the airport. They are anticipating a one percent increase from last year. He credits all the new international flights at the airport, including those to the Middle East, Australia and China.
