DA Seeks Death Penalty in Triple Murder

Victim's daughters bound, raped, but survived

A Dallas man could get the death penalty for the capital murder of his wife, Chare Agnew, and her two sons, Harold Sublet, Jr. and Raekwon Agnew.

Robert Sparks was arrested for the murders three days after the bodies were found in the family's home in September of 2007.

Sparks buried his head in his hands today, listening as the prosecution laid out their case against him.

"He got his buck knife. He looked at his sleeping wife. He put his hand over her mouth. He put his knee in her stomach for leverage, and in his words, he took that buck knife and he dug it in," said one of the attorneys.

Lawyers said Sparks then went into Chare's sons' room and pulled the 9 and 10-year-old boys into the kitchen where they were stabbed nearly 50 times each.

It's something Sparks admitted when he called 911:

Sparks: I just killed three people.
Dispatcher: Where?
Sparks: 231 Ezekiel
Dispatcher: And how did you kill them?
Sparks: I killed the lady and the boys. The two girls are locked up in the closet.

Doctors testified that both of Agnew's daughters were sexually assaulted.

The prosecution is seeking the death penalty in the case; something many of Agnew's family members said they think he deserves if he's convicted.

Agnew's daughters will testify when the trial resumes Wednesday at 9:15 a.m.
