Cruise Ships Divert Due to Harvey

Four cruise ships that were headed to Galveston over the weekend were all rerouted because of Hurricane Harvey.

CNBC is reporting that one Royal Caribbean and three Carnival cruise ships were all diverted.

The three Carnival ships were all send to New Orleans and arrived between Monday & Tuesday. A company spokeswoman told CNBC there are plans in place for the ships to return to Galveston between Tuesday & Wednesday. However all passengers had the option to get off the ship while in Galveston.

Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas was diverted to Miami, where it arrived on Tuesday. A company spokeswoman told CNBC that the ship will spend a few hours in Miami before sailing to Galveston. Passengers on board were offered the option to get off the ship in Miami, or stay on and return to Galveston.

All four ships had new trips scheduled this week, but all have since been cancelled. Carnival will provide a full refund and a 25% future cruise credit if booked within 60 days. Royal Caribbean plans to offer a similar deal.
