Crowley Police Ask for Help Finding Person Who Fatally Shot 2 Teenagers

Two Crowley teenagers were fatally shot with a shotgun late Saturday night, and Crowley police are asking anyone with information that could help find the killer to contact investigators.

Matthew Lemus, 19, and Edgar Ramirez, 17, were killed near the corner of Hutchins Drive and Odell Lane in the Crescent Springs Ranch neighborhood.

"It's a bit disturbing, because this is a quiet neighborhood, and it's one of the reasons I moved over here," said Willie Baker, who lives near the community pool and playground where the shooting happened.

Investigators returned there Monday afternoon, and they now have the pool's surveillance video, which might help them find the killer.

"The main reason that we had the cameras, the biggest problem that we had, is people just jumping the fence that didn't belong to the community," said Tim Gould, president of the Crescent Springs Ranch Homeowners Association.

"We had one camera that actually points toward the parking area, which would show any vehicles coming and going," Gould said.

Another neighbor, Johnny Garcia, was at the pool with his grandchildren that night, and spotted a group of teenagers nearby.

"My granddaughter, she said that she saw one of the teenaged girls throwing rocks, things like that out there," said Garcia, who left the pool with his family about an hour before the shooting.

"What happened is so close that something could have happened to us also," Garcia added.

Family and friends of the victims held a vigil at the community pool and playground late Monday night.

Ramirez lived about a block away from the pool where he was shot.

"It's just horrible," said Ramirez's cousin, Stephani Hernandez. "I mean, we were a very close family, so we're still just trying to figure out how to get through this."
