Crews spent part of Saturday afternoon trying to repair a ruptured gas line in Cockrell Hill.
Cockrell Hill Fire Battalion Chief Kevin Devine told NBC DFW that the rupture occurred during the demolition of a home in the 400 block of South Cockrell Hill Road.
There were no reports of injuries, fires or evacuations as a result of the rupture, but firefighters said there were explosive levels of gas in the area and a small ignition could have leveled the entire house and the one next door.
Firefighters responded at about 1 p.m. Saturday and contained the rupture with a water curtain until the gas line was repaired.
