Crash Closes I-30 at FM 548 in Royse City

One eastbound lane opened before rush hour

Two separate, major crashes east of Dallas County have caused emergency crews to shut down Interstate 30 near Lake Ray Hubbard and near Farm-to-Market Road 548.

The first crash, a multivehicle wreck that has had the highway shut down for hours, happened early Friday over Lake Ray Hubbard. Read more about that first crash by clicking here.

The second crash was reported at about 10:40 by Texas Department of Transportation crews near FM 548, about 10 miles away from the scene of the first early-morning crash.

Both directions of I-30 near FM 548 in Royse City were closed after a semi spilled freight onto the roadway.

Friday afternoon, officials said the westbound lanes will be closed until Saturday afternoon. Eastbound lanes were reopened Friday afternoon and evening.

TxDOT officials are assisting with traffic control while cleanup and investigations into the crash are underway.

In both crashes, significant damage to concrete medians have caused crews to close lanes and encourage drivers to find alternate routes.
