First is the Magnolia Beer Garden. It's located along Grand Avenue just Southwest of Big Tex Circle.

The Magnolia Beer Garden sells a selection of Texas, craft and international beers. Located under a canopy of trees, the seating area was recently expanded for the 2017 State Fair. There's also a 2nd floor balcony where you can kick back and relax after a busy day of eating all that fried food. The Magnolia Beer Garden is considered one of the many "hidden gems" of the State Fair of Texas.

Not far from the Magnolia Beer Garden is the Texas Smokehouse. Located just Northeast of the Lagoon, this hidden area is a hit once the sun goes down. That's because almost all of the trees in the seating area are wrapped in white lights. You can grab some food and a drink and find a table to sit down, relax and do some serious "people watching."

On the other side of the lagoon is the Kids' Boardwalk. This area is filled with large trees and plenty of park benches. You can also watch the kids (or adults) try to drive a swan boat out on the lagoon. There's some food vendors nearby, and this is another great spot to take a break and relax after a day full of walking.

If the livestock shows and competition is the main reason you are at the State Fair of Texas, there's a hidden relaxation spot set up just for you. It's called the "Study Area" and is located inside the Cattle Barn #1. This is a no frills area where you can take a break and check out some of the livestock area at the same time.
