North Texans waiting on a new driver's license may be waiting a few days more.
A computer worm attacked the Department of Public Safety's computer system in April and the result has been a backlog of applications and months of delays in issuing new licenses.
The virus cost the state five days of license production and created a backlog of applications for new issues or renewals.
The viral infection came at the same time the DPS was releasing a new, hi-tech license designed to protect individuals from identity theft.
A DPS spokesperson told the Dallas Morning News more workers have been added to the license machines and the state should be caught up in a few weeks.
