Company Says 2 Injured in Fire at Chemical Plant

Chevron Phillips Chemical says two people are injured after a fire at its Port Arthur facility.

A statement from the company Tuesday said the fire at the Southeast Texas chemical plant has been extinguished and Chevron emergency crews are monitoring the damaged area.

Officials say they've accounted for all personnel working when the fire started about 8 p.m. Monday.

Plant manager Margie Conway said in the statement that two employees were hurt and are being treated at a hospital for their injuries.

The Port Arthur Fire Department could not provide any further details.

The company says the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Port Arthur is about 90 miles east of Houston.
