Collin County Animal Shelter Overflowing With Pets

Pet shelters are filling up almost as fast as lakes and rivers in North Texas.

The Collin County Animal Shelter in McKinney has so many dogs, some are being held in temporary crates in hallways.

They are also being doubled-up in kennels.

Shelter worker Kristene Gonzalez says it’s common to see the pet population spike in the spring season.

"It's kind of sad to walk the hallways right now, but we know that families are coming. We have hope,” said Gonzalez.

The shelter is offering a $25 adoption fee special to help the pets find permanent homes.
