Cleburne Officer in ICU After Serious Crash

Officer listed in serious condition in ICU

A Cleburne police officer is hospitalized in intensive care after a serious car crash Friday night.

The officer was responding to a call about an assault with a knife and was headed westbound on Poindexter when another driver turned left in front of him, investigators said.

The officer's car and the other car collided.  The officer's patrol car then rolled over and hit two other vehicles -- one that was unoccupied and another that had pulled over to let the officer pass.

The officer, whose name has not yet been released, did have lights and sirens on while responding to the call, the department said.

The people in the car that pulled over were not injured.  The driver of the vehicle that collided with the officer was transported to an area hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The Cleburne officer was taken by air ambulance to an area hospital where he is listed as stable in the intensive care unit.

The crash is under investigation by the Cleburne Police Department.
