Children's Health Ends Holiday Parade Tradition

After nearly three decades, Children's Health is stepping away from its traditional holiday parade.

"We have decided to move forward with other new and meaningful ways to bring cheer to families in our community this holiday season," Scott Summerall, Children's Health spokesman, said in a written statement Tuesday. "We are considering ways to celebrate and honor the parade's history in its 30th year, but still ironing out details of a potential event."

Summerall added that the system's Holiday Tree Lighting will continue at Dallas and Plano campuses, as well as Breakfast With Santa and the Holiday Patient Party.

"These events are beloved by our patients, families and team members, and are an important component of fulfilling our mission to make life better for children," Summerall said.

Last year's Holiday Parade was canceled due to the threat of inclement weather.
