The Alamodome in San Antonio rocked last weekend as almost 400 cheerleading groups competed to be the best. They came from small gyms and large gyms, Texas to Oklahoma and packed in between were 66 groups from North Texas.
American Cheer Power hosted the two-day Southern AllStar Nationals. The competition was fierce with teams challenging the others to bring it on. While the cheerleaders took center stage, anxious families waited it out in the stands. There were plenty of cheers and some tears, too, when routines didn't go as planned. The Cheertyme Tigers of Arlington put on quite a show, and fans of Burleson's Stars put on a show in the stands.
After all the jumps, flips, stunts and shouts, the North Texas teams brought home more than a dozen championships.
The judges crowned Envy Cheer in Plano as one of three National Grand Champions.
In the category of small gyms, Grand Champion titles went to the Texas Elite L1 Juniors from Pilot Point and Pro Spirit Juniors from McKinney.
Championship titles went to the Cheertyme Bengal Tigers of Arlington, Burleson's Burleson Stars Senior, the Texas Stars Shining Stars of Fort Worth, the Texas Elite L1 Junior team from Pilot Point, Plano's Envy Cheer 2, the Gymstar Rock Stars in Greenville, the Crusader Guardians in Grapevine, McKinney's Pro Spirit Tiny Stars, Junior 1, Youth 2 and Onyx teams, the Rebel Yell Junior Coed and Small Senior 4 squads from Grand Prairie.
