Charges Possible in Lake Worth Crash

7-year-old girl killed, 6 others, including driver injured

Despite medical issues, an 82-year-old man could face charges for a deadly crash in a Lake Worth parking lot.

Saturday's wreck killed 7-year-old Savannah Deegear.  Six others, including the driver, Vincent Martinez, all required treatment. Some remain hospitalized.

Martinez's pick-up truck came to a stop on top of another vehicle.

Martinez's family said he is diabetic and told NBC 5 he may have had a medical crisis at the time of the crash. Regardless, police said Martinez could still face a felony charge.

"The highest charge he could possibly face is manslaughter, which is a second degree felony, which carries a fine of 2-20 years in the penitentiary and a ten thousand dollar fine," said Officer Don Price with Lake Worth Police Department.

Police have not made a determination on charges yet.  It has not been officially determined that Martinez had a medical issue while driving.

Police also released surveillance video that shows the accident in it's entirety. NBC 5 has decided NOT to show the most graphic portion with the truck actually hitting the victims.  In the video on air and on-line, you can see the Martinez's truck speeding through the parking lot before going out of frame.

There will be a candlelight vigil on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at 8:30 p.m. in the Target Lake Worth parking lot to remember 7-year-old Savannah Deegear.
