An 89-year-old Central Texas man has died after bees stung him thousands of times as he mowed a neighbor's property.
Services were scheduled Saturday in Gatesville for M.K. "Jiggs" Marshall.
Gatesville Fire Department Chief Billy Vaden says emergency room personnel estimate Marshall was stung about 4,000 times on Tuesday before he died.
The incident happened along east U.S. 84 near Gatesville. Motorists reported seeing Marshall, on a riding lawn mower, near the highway.
Vaden says a man who tried to assist Marshall was stung about 50 times and also required medical attention.
