Carrollton Police Search for “Dapper” Burglary Suspect

Carrollton police are looking for a suspect that may be linked to several burglaries and a home invasion in the Austin Waters neighborhood on Wednesday morning.

Police took reports that morning of cars being stolen from on Cardinal Boulevard and Sinclair Street as well as a home burglary on Austin Waters street, all within a few blocks of one another.

Danielle Mullen said she was sleeping inside the home at the time with her family when the invasion took place. She woke to find a gate to the backyard entered through and the backdoor to her exercise room wide open with electronics and a stereo missing from inside.

Mullen said the door to enter the room was locked but believes the burglar may have reached through the dog door to unlock it while she and her child were sleeping in the next room.

Mullen informed her neighborhood housing association of the incident, and that’s when HOA President Mary Dees decided to check her and her neighbor Lloyd Raforth’s surveillance systems to see if they caught anything odd on their street.

What they found, Dees said, was frightening.

A man in what appears to be a light colored suit quickly walked up to Raforth’s car parked behind his home, checked the handle to find it locked and moved on before eventually taking off in a light colored sedan caught clearly on Dees’s camera.

"Anger, wishing I would have caught him,” said Raforth.

Dees said the HOA has received reports of at least five vehicles being stolen from in the neighborhood, all on that cold Wednesday morning. She said though it’s the home invasion that really has them on edge.

"It's very scary, and especially with the news that's gone on like in Plano with the home invasions and everything, you really worry,” said Dees.

Neighbors have already started to organize a neighborhood watch in response and Raforth is even considering getting a video system to allow the HOA to monitor the entrances and exits to the area.

"We're a very close knit neighborhood, and we want to keep it that way, so we're going to get even closer now,” said Raforth.

Carrollton Police Public Information Officer Jolene DeVito said they do consider the man caught in the video as a suspect in the break-ins and they want to find him as soon as possible.
