Car Sought in Amber Alert Involved in Hit-And-Run

Man matching wanted man's description flees the scene of the crash.

The car associated with a man wanted in connection with a missing 11-year-old girl was involved in a hit-and-run in Irving Tuesday.

Police said Enrique Vasquez and the missing child, Iridian Rodriguez, were possibly headed to Mexico after she was reported missing in Tyler last weekend.  According to police, the girl had been sneaking out to see Vasquez.

Vasquez's 1999 blue Firebird was involved in a three-car hit-and-run crash just before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Witnesses told police that the driver of the vehicle, whose description matched Vasquez's, fled the scene on foot.  According to witnesses, there were no reports of a female being in the vehicle or leaving the vehicle.

The vehicle is now being investigated for any possible clue that may lead police to Rodriguez's location.

The Irving Police Department is now entering into a joint investigation with the Tyler police in hopes of finding the missing girl.

Anyone with information regarding the location of Rodriguez or Vasquez is asked to call the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000, or enter their tip online at www.tylerpolice.com.
