Cadaver Dogs Join Search for Christina Morris

The search for missing Allen native Christina Morris is getting new help this weekend after a private investigator hired by the Morris family brought in K-9 search teams.

Morris has been missing for more than three months after disappearing from The Shops at Legacy in Plano after a night out with friends.

The search group features cadaver dogs. The term cadaver means they do search for bodies, but are also trained to seek out human tissue and fluids, like blood.

“I know a lot of people think cadaver means dead, because you think of cadavers being in the morgue, but it all comes from the tissue basis,” said Paula Boudreaux, the private investigator working for the Morris family.

Boudreaux said she has not found any proof that Christina Morris is not alive, but is prepared for the alternative.

“I think finding her either way, alive or not, would give closure to her family,” she said. “It’s like having that burn in your stomach, when you’re looking for something, you’re looking for it and you want to find it.”

During the search Friday, the K-9 team did “hit” a scent in the parking garage where Morris was last seen, near where her car was parked.

The dog’s handlers believe the “hit” could indicate blood was spilled there, but the dogs cannot identify scent to a particular person.

The search will continue on Saturday and Sunday through areas of Plano, Allen and out to Wylie.

“It’s a matter of turning over every rock until you get a hit,” Boudreaux said.

Teams are also looking for belongings Morris was carrying or wearing when she went missing, including a fedora hat, an iPhone, a gold ring and her purse.
