Bomb Scare Evacuates North Dallas Nightclub

Police say a man used a bag of what looked like explosives to threaten a North Dallas club -- and rob another one.

Investigators said Benjamin Contreras Aguirre, 25, went to Carson's Live in the 17700 block of Dallas Parkway at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday and asked for his job back.

Aguirre, who had worked at the club briefly, became upset when his request was denied, police said. He then displayed a bag of what looked like explosives and threatened to blow up the club if he didn't get his job back.

An off-duty police officer was alerted, but Aguirre had already left, police said. The officer checked the area, but did not find any sign of explosives.

Police said Aguirre later went to Club Sting in the 15200 block of Dallas Parkway and demanded money from a club employee at about 3 a.m. He displayed a knife and his bag of what looked like explosives.

Another employee called police, who arrested Aguirre.

Police and fire crews evacuated Club Sting just after 4 a.m. when the employee who was robbed told them about the bag.

The bomb squad searched the building, but did not find any explosives.

Aguirre is charged with aggravated robbery and terroristic threat.
