Body Found in Houston Ship Channel

Police say the body of a man has been recovered in the Houston Ship Channel and investigators are trying to determine what led to his death.

Houston police on Tuesday said autopsy results are pending on the 54-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released.

The body was located Saturday morning in the ship channel outside the Valero Houston Refinery. Police say the body had no visible signs of trauma.

A spokesman for San Antonio-based Valero Energy Corp. says there were no incidents reported at the refinery. Bill Day said Tuesday that the recovery of the body was not related to the refinery, other than proximity.

Day says Valero assisted emergency responders by providing access to the Houston Ship Channel through the company site.
