Big Shake-Up Coming to Parkland Hospital

A major shake-up may be coming to Parkland Memorial Hospital.

The Dallas Morning News, citing county leaders and records, reported Saturday that county commissioners are replacing five of seven hospital board members. The move comes in the wake of concerns over a Morning News investigation into patient harm and related issues at Parkland.

A key remaining board member said that Dr. Ron Anderson's long tenure as chief executive is approaching an end, as well. Board member Dr. Lauren McDonald said Anderson no longer wants to do the full-time CEO job.

Board members recently decided to begin evaluating Anderson's performance quarterly instead of annually. His contract expires at year's end.

Anderson said in an e-mail to the newspaper, "I serve at the pleasure of the board."
