Gator Captured in Sugar Land Parking Lot

A 12-and-a-half-foot, 800 pound, 50-year-old alligator was caught Saturday morning in Sugar Land.

According to NBC affiliate KPRC, the gator was near Oyster Creek behind a shopping center and was discovered when employees arrived at work.

The gator, which has since been nicknamed “Godzilla” because of its size, was in the back parking lot where employees park their car.

KPRC reports alligator hunter Christy Kroboth and an officer tried to tie up the reptile but he fought a tough fight.

“We tried to do a front catch with him where you hold jaws and get him taped, but he was so big," she said. "His jaws were too big for my hands. ."

“We tried several different attempts on how to catch him," Kroboth continued. "Finally, we thought we had him wore out enough to put two people on the back of him and kinda outweigh him, which clearly did not work."

She told KPRC 2 in Houston, “He still had some fight in him. Obviously no death roll or anything like that. So we were all able to get off safely then he was able to swat me with the tail.”

Godzilla will reportedly live out the rest of his days at an alligator farm in El Campo.
