Bastrop County Gets Heavy Rain, Flooding

Officials say heavy rain left behind flooded roads

Emergency officials say heavy rain in Central Texas has left behind flooded roads.

The National Weather Service said a storm Tuesday morning dumped more than 5 inches of rain along the line between Travis and Bastrop counties.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Robbie Barrera said some residents were sheltering in place but no homes had to be evacuated. Barrera said nobody was hurt in the heavy rain that caused some road flooding.

Barrera said the rainfall had eased by early Tuesday afternoon. Forecasters say showers and thunderstorms are likely through Wednesday.

The affected areas are not where wildfires caused sweeping damage last year.
