The sound of barking dogs woke up residents living along the 2200 block of Haymarket Road in Dallas late Tuesday night.
When someone went to investigate what was wrong, they found a 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche on fire. When Dallas Fire-Rescue firefighters put out the fire they found the charred remains of a man inside. Homicide detectives were called in to investigate.
The victim was found in the back seat of the truck around 11 p.m. Haymarket Road is a mile southwest from where Interstate 20 and U.S. 175 (C.F. Hawn Freeway) intersects.
Police said the truck had not been reported stolen and the medical examiner will have to make a positive identification due to the condition of the body.
