Bank Robber Hits Washington Mutual Branch in Highland Park

Friday night, Highland Park police were called by an employee inside a Washington Mutual Bank advising that they had been robbed. Almost simultaneously, the bank alarm notified officials of the robbery.

The robber huddled three employees and a bank customer in one corner, then climbed onto the tellers counter and took money from several drawers. He stuffed the loot in a plastic sack and ran off.

Police believe he acted alone, and no vehicle was seen.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, and armed with a handgun.

Witnessed said that he was wearing jeans, a light colored "hoodie" that was pulled closely together, that his face was covered with a black mask and he had gloves covering his hands.

The FBI was notified and responded with two agents. The investigation is on-going, and there were no injuries.

The amount of money taken has not been revealed.
