Bank Robber Gets 100 Years in Prison

Man must also pay $519,000 in restitution

A Dallas man convicted of two bank robberies in Central Texas has been sentenced to 100 years in prison.

A federal judge in Waco on Wednesday sentenced 48-year-old Benjamin Alexander Potts and also ordered the Dallas man to pay nearly $519,000 in restitution.

A jury in August convicted Potts of two counts of bank robbery and two counts of using a firearm during a bank robbery. Prosecutors say the February 2010 holdups happened in Waco and Temple. Both robberies were committed at gunpoint.

Potts must serve 25 years on each of the four counts, with the prison terms to run consecutively.

A convicted fellow robber was sentenced last fall to 51 years in prison.
