Baby Giraffe Born at Houston Zoo

Masai giraffe nearly 6 feet tall at birth.

He's a good eater.

The newest giraffe at the Houston Zoo has taken to bottle feeding -- gaining six pounds over the weekend.

Zoo spokesman Brian Hill said the newborn weighed 116 pounds Monday, has a great appetite and "is just as cute as he can be."

Hill said the calf, born Friday at 69 inches tall and 110 pounds, will be bottle fed for months because his mother, Noel, isn't able to provide enough milk.  Video of the baby boy is available on YouTube.com.

Hill said the male Masai giraffe was being fed diluted goat's milk Monday and "he's taking the bottle like a real champ."

A decision is pending on a name for the giraffe.
