Baby, 58 Dogs Rescued from Filthy Home

Most animals were taken to the Weatherford/Parker County animal shelter

Authorities responding to a tip from a concerned citizen found 58 dogs living in filth without food and water -- and a baby in a crib surrounded by the animals' waste.

The situation was found at a house near Springtown, almost 30 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Parker County Sheriff's Lt. Mark Arnett says the 48-year-old woman who owns the house was arrested on an outstanding warrant but could be charged with animal cruelty. Child Protective Services workers turned the child over to his mother with orders not to bring him back.

County Animal Control Supervisor Karen Kessler says most of the dogs were in fair condition, but some were in poor shape. Two were euthanized.

The other animals were taken to the Weatherford/Parker County animal shelter.
