The popular restaurant, known for its fried chicken and home-style feel, submitted a bid to buy three acres of land at Loop 820 and Rufe Snow Drive.

The city currently owns the property, which is now vacant.

The building was previously used as a city library and recreation center.

But both have since moved into their new location, close to Birdville High School.

The North Richland Hills city council approved selling the land to "Babes NRH, LLC." during a recent meeting.

There's no word yet on when the new location will open.

NBC 5 reached out Paul Vineyard, owner of Babe's, and he said while the deal is not yet done he hopes to have details worked out by the middle of next month.

Vineyard also said he plans two different restaurants at that location – a Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes, and of course a Babe's Chicken House.
