The father of a 2-year-old boy who was left on the doorstep of a Spring home Wednesday night said a friend dropped the child off at the wrong house, according to our NBC-affiliate KPRC.
A spokesman with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said they have identified the woman, who is a friend of the boy's mother, and are trying to set up an interview with her. The toddler has been reunited with his father, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said.
A video doorbell captured the woman running up to the door of the home in Spring dragging the boy by his arm, ringing the doorbell and knocking several times, the sheriff's office said.
The toddler turns and stares after the woman as she runs then drives away.
The resident of the home called 911. She said the 2-year-old boy was standing there alone when she opened the door.
Deputies said that the child’s father received a text message from the child’s mother saying the boy would be dropped off at his house on Wednesday afternoon. Deputies said the child was not dropped off as planned because the mother was admitted to the hospital, and asked a friend to drop the child off at the father’s house. When the child was not dropped off as planned, deputies said, the father assumed the mother had changed her mind and he left his house for the evening.
Investigators said they canvassed the neighborhood when the child was found Wednesday night, but no one answered the door at the father’s house.

The boy was uninjured and appeared to be in good health. The child is now in the care of Child Protective Services as authorities try to find his family.
