Authorities: Garland Youth Minister Indicted for Child Porn

Authorities said a former Garland youth minister was indicted on two charges of child pornography.

Former South Garland Baptist Church youth minister Derek Hutter, 37, was charged with attempted production of child pornography and receipt of child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña.

The indictment states that Hutter sent an email to an underage girl in August asking her to text him sexually explicit pictures. The indictment also states that Hutter received child pornography images via his email account in September.

Hutter pleaded not guilty to all charges.

If convicted, Hutter faces up to 50 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.
