An Austin man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison over the 2013 killing of his wife who was stabbed more than a dozen times.
Lee Andrew Green was sentenced Friday night in Austin just hours after jurors convicted him of murder.
Green could have received a life prison term for the slaying of Francisca Garcia-Guerra during an argument. Attorneys for Green told jurors that he is schizophrenic, has the IQ of a child and was acting in self-defense while struggling with his wife.
Prosecutors say Green tried to clean up the scene and called police the day after the slaying.
The victim's 5-year-old son was found in his pajamas and walking along a street, with blood on his clothing.
