Attack Caught on Camera Leads to an Arrest

David Herrera charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon

Haltom City police have arrested a man in connection with the attack of a homeowner after local media released video surveillance of the attack.

The video footage shows a burglar swiping at Robert Richter with what appears to be a knife. After Richter escapes into his home, the burglar throws a flower pot through the front door, shattering the glass.

Police said the Haltom City Street Crimes Unit was able to identify the suspect as David Herrera, 37, of Fort Worth, after tips received from viewers who saw the video.

The Fort Worth Police Department was notified and their SWAT team arrested Herrera on Thursday, officials with the Haltom City Police Department said.

Herrera is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond is set at $50,000.
