Dallas police say a man is in custody for the sexual assault of a woman using a ride-share service Saturday.
Police have identified Loai Faheem Laila, 34, as a suspect. He was arrested in the 100 block of Simmons Drive in Coppell.
Police say an anonymous tip led to the arrest Saturday, Nov. 13. Laila was positively identified by the victim, according to police.
Detectives had been following up on tips since the incident which occurred early Saturday morning, Nov. 7.
The driver, seen in a black Chevy Tahoe, picked up a woman along McKinney Avenue near Allen Street. He later raped her, according to police.
The victim used a smart phone ride-sharing app, but then canceled her ride before hopping in the black SUV with the unknown driver.
On Sunday, a representative of the ride-sharing company Lyft confirmed Laila was a Lyft driver. Laila had not accepted a ride since Halloween and was de-activated as a driver as soon as the company learned of his arrest.
Police also held a "Coffee with Cops" event on Friday at an Uptown Starbucks to help put residents at ease.
Laila is charged with one count of sexual assault. He is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond, police said.
