A Cooke County man has been charged with four courts of injury to a child after his girlfriend told authorities that he tried to throw sulfuric acid on her but instead burned her four kids, Sheriff Michael Compton said Friday.
Four arrest warrants were issued for 27-year-old Tracy Lynn Escobedo.
He was not in custody on Friday afternoon.
The children's mother, Cynthia Darlene Stout, remained in jail Friday on $100,000 bond. She was arrested Wednesday on a charge of child endangerment after her children were burned with the sulfuric acid while riding with her and Escobedo in a pickup truck.
Compton has said Stout tried to walk away from the truck near a cafe in Woodbine while the man took the 18-month-old to a nearby residence where a woman washed down the infant with water. Compton has said the woman's actions may have minimized the child's injuries.
Deputies were able to locate the 18-month-old through witnesses at the scene, Compton said, adding that Stout was apprehended trying to leave the cafe without the three older children. He said she had walked 500-600 yards down the road when she was apprehended.
All four of the children were flown by air ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.
Compton has said it was unclear why sulfuric acid was in the truck. He said the woman told authorities they had the chemical because of a clogged drain.
Compton said that it is believed that Escobedo is the father of the 18-month-old.
