Arlington Police Safely End Standoff

Arlington police arrested a man after a multiple hour standoff in the 500 block of Matt Lane on Tuesday.

Pervis Lee Andrews barricaded himself in a home in the area after members of the Arlington Police Fugitive Unit attempted to serve a felony warrant.

Andrews has a felony warrant for assault/family violence and additional misdemeanor warrants, according to police records.

Police say they saw Andrews enter the home around 10 a.m. Tuesday. When officers ordered Andrews out of the residence, he refused, leading to the standoff.

Officers had weapons drawn and called out the U.S. Marshal's North Texas Fugitive Task Force to assist during the standoff.

Andrews surrendered peacefully around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Andrews' wife, who was inside the home during the incident, said she did not feel she was in any danger during the incident. NBC 5's Randy McIlwain spoke to her off camera and was told the misdemeanor warrants on Andrews' record were traffic related.

Arlington police say Andrews is being held in the city jail in lieu of $10,899 bail for the warrants.
