Arlington Opens First Liquor Store

After approving liquor sales in November, the first liquor store has now opened in Arlington.

The liquor store, called Liquor Depot Express, is located at state Highway 360 and Pioneer Parkway. They opened at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Kareem Hakemy, the owner, is glad to be in Arlington.

“Really excited we are here in Arlington,” said Hakemy. “There is a lot of great business and possibility here. The people have been wanting something like this here for a long time.”

Hakemy is not a stranger to liquor stores. His family already owns several across the DFW area.

He is glad they were able to secure this location in Arlington.

“There is a high volume of traffic,” said Hakemy. “It’s just a good location to pick at the time. Hopefully it will do good business.”

Brian Pfieffer was the first customer at Liquor Depot Express on Thursday.

“It’s closer,” said Pfieffer, “This will boom Arlington’s sales.”

Pfieffer said he knew exactly what he was going to purchase.

“Jack Daniels,” he said, “That’s the only thing.”

Liquor Depot Express will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. They will be closed on Sundays.

The City of Arlington has already approved four liquor stores, including Liquor Depot Express. They have three more applications that are pending.
