Arlington Mom Finds Stranger's Baby Book, Wants to Return it to Family

First-time mom Macy McCoy has made it a point to capture every moment and memory she can of her daughter’s first four years of life.

“They’re very important,” said McCoy, who lives in Arlington. “When she gets older, she might want to look back at it.”

It’s why she’s now trying to reunite a family with their memories.

Several weeks ago, she went to the Arlington Convention Center for a half-price book sale. As she was looking at books for her daughter, she came across a baby book. Inside were notes, pictures, and even sonograms of a little girl.

She bought the book in hopes of returning it to the family it belongs to.

“I figured somebody has got to be missing this,” said McCoy. “They couldn’t have got rid of it. I wouldn’t have got rid of it.”

The book has provided some clues. The girl’s first name is Abigail (NBC 5 has decided not to reveal her last name for precautionary reasons). She was born on March 7, 2005 at St. Luke’s Woodlands Hospital, which is outside of Houston.

“I shared it on Facebook and tried to get other people to share it on Facebook,” said McCoy.

The family’s last name is fairly common, which has made the search difficult for McCoy. It’s why she reached out to NBC 5 via Facebook to ask for help.

“I really wanted to find the owners,” said McCoy.

She hopes sharing this story will put her one step closer to the family – and that ultimately, a now 10-year-old Abigail will get to learn what she was like as a baby.
