Arlington Man Gets Life in Prison For Baby Death

A North Texas man has been sentenced to life prison for the 2011 fatal beating of his girlfriend's 10-month-old daughter when the baby wouldn't stop crying.

A jury in Fort Worth on Wednesday convicted 27-year-old Austin Crawford of Arlington of murder. Jurors then deliberated about 10 minutes before deciding Crawford's penalty in the death of Kaylee Miller.

Investigators say Crawford was watching the infant on Dec. 29, 2011, as the child's mother was at work when he struck and shook the baby to get her to stop crying.

Police say Crawford and his girlfriend awoke the next morning and the baby was unresponsive. Kaylee died later that day at a hospital. A corner determined the infant had suffered several blows to the head.
