Arlington GM Employees Buy $118,000 Worth of Toys

Employees at the General Motors Assembly Plant in Arlington don’t just make SUV’s. They also make the season bright for deserving kids here in North Texas.

All year they’ve been collecting money to buy toys, even giving up part of their paychecks each pay period to help the cause. That effort has meant they were able to purchase $118,000 worth of toys this holiday season.

The toys will be donated to Mission Arlington, which will distribute them to local families.

“There’s a lot of families out there that are not as fortunate as some of us out here that have a job like this,” said Hector Mori, an employee at the plant and the United Auto Workers co-chair of the toy drive. “So it’s a way of giving back and showing the community what kind of people we have working here at GM.”

GM invited dozens of the kids they’re helping to visit the plant Friday for some holiday fun and a visit with Santa.
