Aretha Franklin Performs In Dallas To Help Poverty-Stricken

In front of a packed house at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, legendary singer Aretha Franklin wowed the crowd with her vocal abilities that can't be replicated.

A fundraiser was held Saturday where Franklin performed for people who helped raise money for CitySquare, an organization fighting poverty in Dallas.

Before the show Franklin talked with NBC 5 in an exclusive interview about on the importance of giving to those in need.

“I think if we help each other and we support each other nobody is going to come up short,” said Franklin. “We have to [help].”

At the age of 72, Franklin talked about her future as a performing artist and says she has no time line as to when she will retire.

Editor's Note: There will be a longer, more extensive interview with Ms. Franklin on NBC 5 News after Sunday Night Football.
