Are You Missing Money? New Website Makes Searching Easier

$4 billion remains unclaimed according to the Texas Comptroller's Office

Just in time for Christmas, the State of Texas wants to reunite you with your unclaimed money thanks to a new and improved website.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced the new and updated ClaimItTexas.org website Monday. The website features better search functions, allows you to upload claim documentation directly and it's mobile friendly.

"I am proud of our unclaimed property program, which has returned about $800 million to its rightful owners since I've been Comptroller," Hegar said via a news release. "The newly redesigned website makes it even easier for users to search for unclaimed property, and I encourage everyone to go online, take a look around and see if there is money waiting for you or your loved ones."

The Texas Comptroller's Office estimates about $4 billion has gone unclaimed across the entire state.

The Comptroller's Office says in 2017 the agency paid a record $281 million in claims. Since the program started in 1962, the state has returned more than $2 billion in unclaimed property to its rightful owners.
