AA Passenger Wants Millions After Long Flight

An Alabama man has filed a lawsuit against American Airlines after his trip home from Cancun in December of 2006 took 28 hours, according to an article in the Huntsville Times newspaper.

The lawsuit claims passengers on a flight from Cancun to DFW International wound up trapped on board a plane for almost seven hours after the flight was diverted to New Orleans because of bad weather.

Attorneys for passenger James Harper said toilets on the plane backed up and there was no food on board for passengers.

The lawsuit asks for more than $5 million in damages for passengers on board the flight and asks the court to give the suit class action status.

As a policy, American Airlines does not comment on pending litigation.
